The Central Services Department is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all City and Utility owned property, including all facilities, buildings, grounds, alleys and streets. This includes the maintenance of 180 miles of public streets, 40 miles of alleys, 407 acres of grass, 52 acres of parking lots and pavement, 15 acres of plantings, 13 acres of sidewalks, and 21 acres of woods. Buildings like the Police Station, City Hall, the Battell Center, Castle Manor, the Eberhart Golf Course, the offices of the Electric, Water, Wastewater, and Business Office of the Utilities, and all park properties are included. The department is also responsible for all signage for traffic control, street sweeping and leaf pick-up, and staffing for the Mishawaka Environmental Center on E. 5th Street.
