Santa's Arrival To Kickoff Holiday Activities Dec 2

The arrival of Santa Claus and the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place in downtown Mishawaka on the northwest lawn of the Mishawaka Police Station on Friday, December 2nd, at 6:00pm.

Santa and the Mayor will arrive on a decorated fire truck along with VIP guests, Brendan Williams, Sarah Baker, Mary Jo and Bob Baker. The procession will leave from the Union Street Fire Station and make its way to the downtown tree arriving around 6:00pm. Marian High School senior Taylor Ryan-Sizemore will lead Christmas carols while the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council will serve hot chocolate and cookies.

This year’s tree was graciously donated from the Mishawaka home of Sarah Baker. Brendan, who is Sarah's son, will be the guest of honor to “flip the switch” for the lighting of the tree.

The fun continues throughout December with two free holiday movies; the first on Tuesday, December 6th at 1:00pm in the Battell Center's newly renovated auditorium featuring "It’s A Wonderful Life". The second holiday movie night will be combined with a Toys for Tots event on Friday, December 9th. Starting at 5:30pm at the Battell Center, the event will feature free pictures with Santa, crafts, balloon twisters and wrap up with the movie "A Christmas Story" which starts at 7:00pm. There is no charge but donations to support Toys for Tots are welcome.

The annual Winterfest event will take place on Friday, December 16th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Merrifield Complex and Park. This is a free, family-friendly experience that includes ice skating, horse-drawn carriage rides, a visit with Santa, an outdoor Christmas movie around a bonfire, crafts, light refreshments and more. Mishawaka Parks Department will also be accepting donations of non-perishable food items for the Mishawaka Food Pantry.
