Capt. Dan Gebo has been with the Mishawaka Police Department since 1997. He has been a member of the Neighborhood Enforcement Team since 2000.

The Neighborhood Enforcement
Team (NET) has twelve police officers assigned to the unit. Eight NET officers are assigned to seven designated areas of the city - Northwest, Northeast, Northwest Central, Northeast Central, South Central, Southwest and Southeast. N.E.T. officers are responsible for their assigned areas.

Some of the N.E.T. officer's duties and responsibilities include:

  • following up on crime investigations;
  • locating and identifying criminal activity and wanted persons;
  • assisting neighborhood watch groups with their concerns and scheduled meetings;
  • reading reports to identify crime patterns and trends;
  • making citizen contacts to determine crime problems within their area, and;
  • making innovative response or referral for resolution of the problem.

The N.E.T. program also has a certified D.A.R.E. officer and two School Resource Officers. One officer is assigned to Mishawaka High School; the other is at John Young Middle School.

David Smith has been an Officer with the Mishawaka Police Department since June 1997. He was previously a police officer in Hammond, IN. He has been on the Neighborhood Enforcement Team since December 2005.

Chad Thomas has been in the Mishawaka Police Department since 1998. Chad is currently assigned to NET with his K-9 partner Zeek. Thomas and K-9 Zeek have been partners since 2003. Cpl. Thomas is also a member of the St. Joseph County Metro SWAT Team and is a certified Less-Lethal istructor.

Brad Haney has been a Mishawaka Police officer since January, 1999. He has been a NET officer since February, 2005 and is also a Child Passenger Safety Technician.

Roman Johnson became a Mishawaka police Officer in August, 2003. Cpl. Johnson is a Crime Scene Technician and was assigned to the Neighborhood Enforcement Team in December, 2006.

Bryan Fox has been a Mishawaka Police officer since September, 1995. He was assigned to the Neighborhood Enforcement Team in November, 1998. Fox was named "Police Officer of the Year 2001" for the Mishawaka Police Department. Bryan Fox has been on the St. Joseph County/Mishawaka Police S.W.A.T. since October, 2002.

Robert Reppert has been with the Mishawaka Police Department since August, 1997. Robert was transferred to the Mishawaka N.E.T unit from August, 1999 until March, 2003. He returned to the NET in January, 2005.

Lt. Tim Williams

The Neighborhood Enforcement Team (NET) is a major department within Mishawaka's Neighborhood Improvement Team. Neighborhood Improvement Team members include the Common Council, Mayor, Police, Fire, EMS, Building, Planning, Engineering, Community Development, Code Enforcement, Legal, Utilities, Parks, and the Street Department.
