2014 "Rockin' by the River" Summer Day Camps

Mishawaka Parks & Recreation has announced the schedule for their "Rockin' by the River" Summer Day Camps. The camps will run weekly Monday thru Friday between June 9th and August 15th and feature a different theme each week. Camps are open to all youths ages 6-11 and feature both 3-day and 5-day options with activity schedules running from 9:15am-3:30pm (Basic) or from 7:30am-5:30pm (Extended).

Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day 2014

In 2011, U.S. Senator Richard Burr, a ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs, encouraged Communities across the nation to establish “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day.” A resolution was passed unanimously by the United States Senate designating March 30th as “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day” to honor the return home of our armed services members after serving in Vietnam.

Battell Park Selected by Macy's to Receive Funding

Battell Park has been selected as a fundraising recipient for Macy's “Heart Your Park” program. This program, introduced as part of Macy’s “Secret Garden” campaign, aims to raise awareness and dollars for local parks across the country. From March 7 to March 31, customers at Macy’s in University Park Mall can donate $1 or more at the register, with 100 percent of the donations benefiting Battell Park. Macy’s will match the total customer donation across all stores, dollar for dollar, up to $250,000 in total.

Historical Documentary Screening at Mishawaka Public Library

The historical documentary "Downtown Mishawaka (circa 1959)" will be shown Thursday, March 13th at 7pm in the Spencer Gallery of the Mishawaka Public Library, 209 Lincolnway East in Mishawaka.  Written, directed, and produced by long-time Mishawaka resident Ed Chamberlin, the documentary focuses on the downtown Mishawaka businesses surrounding the "four corners" of Lincolnway and Main Street around 1959. The event will be hosted by Mr. Chamberlin.
