The Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay will arrive at the corner of Mill and Front Street in Mishawaka at approximately 11:22am on Saturday, October 8th. At 10:45am, Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood will address the crowd and introduce the Mishawaka torchbearers who will then proceed to their appointed spot and wait for the torch to arrive from Lakeville, Indiana.
The Mishawaka Street Department will begin the city’s annual fall leaf collection program on Monday, October 17, 2016 and will follow a schedule that should help residents plan their leaf raking activities. Residents may begin raking leaves to their curbside starting the weekend of October 15-16. Leaves will be picked up each week on the day before each resident’s regular trash pick-up day. Those with a Monday trash pickup will have their leaves picked up on Friday. The leaf collection program will continue through November or until leaves are no longer a problem for residents.
Members of the 2016-17 Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (MYAC) were sworn in and given the Oath of Office by Mayor David Wood on Sept. 19, 2016 during the regularly scheduled Common Council Meeting in the Council Chambers of City Hall.
The second annual Mishawaka Heritage Festival will take place on Sunday, September 4, 2016 from 4pm-10pm in Central Park and celebrates the ethnic, religious and industrial heritage of the Mishawaka community. It includes music, dance, food, drink and history; focusing on where our City has been and the core of what makes our City unique today.
