New Fire Station Dedicated
A public dedication ceremony for the City’s newest fire station was held Sunday, January 13th. The ceremony took place at the new Fire Station #4 located at 3000 E. Harrison Road was followed by an open house & station tours. The new Fire Station #4 was built by Casteel Construction of South Bend and replaces the city’s historic facility on Lincolnway East that was built in 1929.
Irish Hockey "Practice on the Pond" - January 5th
The nationally ranked Notre Dame Hockey team will be attending the Merrifield Ice Rink this coming Saturday, January 5th at 4:30 - 6pm for their annual "Practice on the Pond". Please come join us for this free event. Enjoy some hot chocolate provided by the hockey team and get an autograph from your favorite player. Food specials will also be available. Local radio stations will be broadcasting from the rink and will be having drawings for Notre Dame items.
Mishawaka Main Junior High Apartments Set To Open December 7th
Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood announced today that the ribbon cutting for the Mishawaka Main Junior High Apartments has been set for 4:00pm on Friday December 7, 2012. This re-dedication commemorates the rehabilitation and adaptive reuse of this historically significant building originally constructed in 1910. The City’s general contractor, Ziolkowski Construction of South Bend, will be in attendance as will many of the numerous entities and individuals that have been part of the 7.5 million dollar project.
Merrifield Ice Rink Slated to Open December 7th
Merrifield Ice Rink is scheduled to open for the winter season next week. Tentative opening day is set for Wednesday, December 5th for rentals, and Friday, December 7th for public/open skate. Due to unseasonably warm temperatures, this is a little later than usual.
