Christmas is a joyous time of year for many families, but for some, who have trouble paying their rent and utilities every month, it’s just a reminder of how bad things are. No money for a Christmas meal or coats and shoes for their children, let alone the toys they would like to buy. Year after year, this community steps in to help these families by donating to The Salvation Army Christmas Campaign.
Cpl. Jennifer Wilson was presented with the Lifesaving Award by Mayor David Wood and Mishawaka Police Chief Ken Witkowski.
On August 29, 2013 Cpl. Wilson responded to a daycare facility where a 4-year-old child was unresponsive to attempts to awaken from a nap. Cpl. Wilson began taking steps to perform CPR including tilting the child's head to open the airway and checking for a pulse.
