The Community Relations Unit has three police officers assigned to the unit. Some of officer’s duties and responsibilities include, assisting neighborhood watch groups with their concerns, make citizen contacts to determine crime problems within their area and innovative response or referral for resolution of the problem. The Community Relations Unit works closely with the Street Crime Unit and The Office of the Chief of Police.
The Mishawaka Police Department recognizes that successful crime prevention depends on the community and the Police Department working together. With this in mind, the Mishawaka Police Department will strive to provide an open line of communication between the citizens and police officers to take an active role service-oriented police department. Through this partnership we will work together to identify, prioritize and solve problems of our community with the goal of improving the overall sense of safety and security within our fine community.
