The Mishawaka Parks Department is pleased to offer the American Red Cross Learn-To-Swim Program this summer for children of all abilities, ages 5-18. Three different sessions are available and are designed to teach all levels of proficiency in swimming techniques and water safety, including water exploration, primary skills, stroke readiness, stroke development, stroke refinement, skill proficiency, and advanced skills. Lessons are taught by certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. If your child is under five years of age, you may want to sign up for the Mom & Me/Dad & Me Lessons rather than the Learn-To-Swim Program.
The American Red Cross Mom or Dad and Me Program promotes water safety knowledge and practices water adjustment, as well as fun and enjoyment in the water. Emphasis is on the development of a trusting relationship between parents, children and the instructor. A parent or guardian (male or female) must accompany every child in the water.
